webassets/CenterforceDF023500-0102350.jpg

Centerforce strives to provide top of the line products on today's market for all performance levels. To do so, Centerforce uses patented processes and constantly tests different materials and designs to find the best combination.

The Dual Friction® and DFX® series clutches by Centerforce®, the best in high-performance single disc clutches, are now available for 2011 Ford Mustangs with the 5.0L 32-Valve Engine and 6 Speed Trans. The Dual Friction part number: DF023500 (Pressure Plate & Disc) and DFX part number: 01023500 (Pressure Plate & Disc). Also available are DFX Series Part Numbers 11367500 (Pressure Plate Only), and 23280023 (Disc Only). Each of these two new clutch assemblies replaces the current assembly with a higher holding capacity pressure plate, designed for a direct bolt in replacement.

NOTE: THE DFX CLUTCH ASSEMBLY REQUIRES A CENTERFORCE FLYWHEEL.

The Centerforce Dual Friction pressure plates feature our patented processes to provide a performance clutch that offers exceptional street characteristics, while offering outstanding holding-capacity and durability. The Dual-Friction disc has a full facing on the pressure plate side for drivability and longevity, while a carbon composite puc style (segmented) facing is used on the flywheel side for a positive engagement and increased holding-capacity. Dual Friction is the ultimate in street/strip holding power and performance without sacrificing pedal effort and driver control.

The DFX series is the latest of single disc performance clutches from Centerforce. The series is designed as a direct bolt in for perfect fit and function. DFX scores big, not only with holding capacity and strength, but also provides some of the best drivability from a race inspired clutch. This DFX performance clutch system utilizes the patented Centerforce centrifugal weight system for maximum grip, a patented Ball Bearing design for a light pedal and quick release, Nodular Iron pressure plate rings and reinforcements designed to help prevent drive strap breakage and safety. The Paddle, or button style disc, has been through constant testing of different friction materials and hub designs to bring the optimal combination available to you. Dual Friction® assembly is also available upon request. Because of the aggressive nature of DFX discs, one may experience some chatter.

Quarter Mile Foundation to raffle engine Street/Strip engine built by Joe Mondello

Parma Heights, Ohio (February 18, 2011) - The Quarter Mile Foundation and drag racing legend Joe Mondello and Joe Mondello Engines, in conjunction with the renown World Products, have announced a joint venture to raffle a street/strip big-block Chevy engine to support the Foundation's PROJECT 1320 documentary film program.

"Joe proposed the engine raffle following the SEMA Show," said Traci Hrudka, Foundation chairman. "The members of the Foundation's Board of Directors welcomed the proposal and we have been working with Joe regarding the engine and the mechanism for the raffle. This will be the first of a series of ‘Save Our Heritage' engine raffles in conjunction with leading engine builders."

"As I talked to Traci and some of the Foundation's board members, I was struck by their dogged determination to make this documentary a reality," said Mondello. "I felt that I could contribute my name and talents to this important undertaking by providing an engine to raffle, Bill Mitchell Sr. and his son, Bill, Jr. of World Products have really made a significant contribution to the Foundation and this raffle program, providing a great deal of value to this engine.

"Our sport and the industry should have done this job many years ago, and I want to provide whatever support and encouragement I can to this endeavor. I would like to see others in the sport and the industry step up and get behind the Quarter Mile Foundation and PROJECT 1320 with financial support and/or creative means of generating the needed funds to do this."

Bill Mitchell, Jr. said, "I have grown up in this sport and industry, and although I was not fortunate enough to watch from the very beginning, I have seen many milestones over the years. Racers and fads come and go. Whether it be running around the shop at Motion Performance while Dad was building some of the coolest muscle cars or being at the race track during the days when he competed in Competition Eliminator, the education was invaluable! "When Joe came to me with his proposal for support and hearing the passion in his voice that has obviously helped drive the sport to where it is today, we had to be part of it and felt it would be an honor.

"I have teenagers myself and hate to admit it but the majority of the kids today just are not as interested as they were 20 years ago. I think it is a lot harder today for the kids to get involved. Cars are more expensive and harder to work on.

"I think for all of the reasons above, this is a great and very important cause to help promote the future of the sport."

The engine, dubbed "Mondello's Vintage Rat," is designed to run on pump gas and will be complete (including ignition) from carburetor to the oil pan, from the nose pulley/harmonic damper to the flexplate. It will be a 555 cubic inch Chevrolet (Mk IV version), with a single four-barrel carburetor and designed for use with an automatic transmission. World Products is supplying the core of the engine: a Merlin engine block, heads and the intake manifold. It will deliver an estimated 700-plus horsepower and 650 ft-lb of torque. The valve covers will be engraved with the Mondello Engine and World Products names. Once completed, it will be dynoed, and the dyno sheet will accompany the engine to the raffle winner.

According to Joe Mondello, the engine may be vintage, but will feature cutting edge, premium components from leading industry manufacturers. "I am pleased to say all of the manufacturers are supplying the components without charge," he said.

The raffle tickets will be available at events where the Quarter Mile Foundation will have a presence, as well as the Foundation's website (www.PROJECT1320.com), according to Ms. Hrudka. Tickets will be priced at $10.00 (US) each or 6 for $50.00. The raffle tickets will be available beginning at the Race & Performance Show, February 26 & 27 at St. Charles, Ill. The winner will be drawn at the Performance Racing Industry Show on December 3, 2011.

The Quarter Mile Foundation is a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit foundation, which is producing PROJECT 1320, a documentary film series about the history of drag racing and the parallel growth of the performance automotive aftermarket.

webassets/PrecTurboEntry.jpg

Hebron, IN - March 03, 2011 - Precision Turbo and Engine's line of entry level turbochargers has been expanded to now include the exclusive Competition Engineered Aerodynamics (CEA) compressor wheel option for the 54mm size.

This premium technology, available for the first time in smaller frame size turbos, is offered in combination with Precision's T31 turbine wheel. The 54mm CEA compressor wheel equipped turbocharger is available with a choice of turbine housing A/R sizes (0.48 or 0.63) in T3 4-bolt, T3 5-bolt (with or without wastegate hole) or Buick 3-bolt style. The 54mm CEA turbo also features Precision's E compressor cover which utilizes a 3" inlet and 2" discharge.

PTE's CNC-machined aluminum Competition Engineered Aerodynamics (CEA) compressor wheels are specifically designed to deliver maximum performance. Cutting-edge technology is used to provide greater efficiency and faster transient response which results in less turbo lag than traditional cast wheels of the same size. The CEA wheels are also known for making significantly more power without sacrificing weight or cost.

When compared to standard 50 trim cast 54mm compressor wheels from other manufacturers, Precision's 54mm CEA compressor wheel offers superior durability while being significantly lighter which helps improve spool-up time and often results in more horsepower at the same or lower boost levels than traditional wheels.

The availability of this new 54mm CEA entry level turbo will enable racers to obtain high-end performance in a smaller package that is ideal for more streetable applications such as road racing, drifting, autocross, gymkhana and more.

Remove Racing Rubber & More With Mothers® R3

webassets/MothersR3.jpg

If the sound of screaming engines and the smell of burning rubber are part of your lifestyle, then you know how a day at the track can throw melted rubber, asphalt, bugs and other debris all over your beautiful race car. Now your problems are over with Mothers® R3 Racing Rubber Remover.

Mothers® R3 is a pro-strength cleaner that is tough on tenacious rubber and grime, but gentle enough for paint, glass, vinyl wrap and other exterior surfaces - all of the common problem areas that keep you from looking your best on the track or on the street. Simply spray and wipe. It's that easy.

"R3 works great in the very short time we have between sessions to remove the excessive amount of rubber that accumulates on our Mazda RX-8s, and it allows us to keep them looking their best for our sponsors," says Jay Chapman of Team Sahlen, whose team competes in Grand Am racing.

Fabryce Kutyba of GMG Racing uses R3 on their Porsche World Challenge GT and ALMS GTC cars. "R3 has cut cleaning time down so our cars are always looking 100% at the track at all times!"

A key feature about R3 is that it's quick and easy to use. "R3 is a real time saver at the track. We work hard to be up front and to look sharp, and the team loves how good of a job it does in keeping up with all the scuff marks that a competitive environment brings to our Mazdaspeed RX-8 GT cars," says Sylvain Tremblay of SpeedSource Race Engineering, whose team is a two-time class winner in the Rolex 24 hours at Daytona.

"We strive to build the highest quality equipment available in our industry, and Mothers® has been a preferred product for years and play a significant role in maintaining that standard," says Tami Parsnow, Richard Petty Driving Experience. "R3 easily removes the rubber and debris from our cars without streaking or hazing. With a fleet of over 120 vehicles across the country, we rely on R3 to help keep them looking great!"

So if you live life in the fast lane, whether it's with one car, a team, or a fleet, keep looking good with Mothers® R3 Racing Rubber Remover.

Trend Announces New Tool Steel Solid Flat tappets: Exceptional Longevity, Unmatched Value

webassets/TrendPerf.jpg

Warren, Michigan: Trend has announced a new, premium tool steel solid flat tappet. Intended for use on cast iron camshafts, they suit Chevrolet, Ford, Chrysler, and Toyota V8s. Ideal for engines turning in excess of 7,000rpm with higher valve spring pressures these new tool steel tappets are designed for short track oval racing, Bracket racing, and street use.

As direct derivatives of Trend's successful NASCAR tool steel flat tappets, their chief advantage is multiple usage-they can be re-used many times. They can also operate on different cast iron camshafts. And they can be rebuilt and their crowns re-ground-in fact these tappets can last indefinitely by simply returning them to Trend for refurbishment when necessary.

The chief problem in creating a tappet of this quality at an affordable price entails economies of scale. But as Trend is already engaged in large volume production for NASCAR teams this new tappet program was a logical progression.

Furnished with a super fine surface finish (1-2Ra) and built from tool steel for durability and hardness (63-64RC), these premium tappets are lightweight (68+ grams) and are available with an optional EDM oil hole (.016in) in the foot or contact area. Almost indiscernible, the crown on the tappet foot measures .0015in deep with a radius of between 50 and 60 inches. By riding on the tapered lobe of a cast iron camshaft, the tappet crown rotates and therefore avoids premature wear.

Once in service the crown on the foot will exhibit a dull polished finish. At rebuild times as long as the dull polished finish remains, no refurbishing is necessary. This tappet cannot lose its geometry without losing its finish; therefore, if its appearance remains unchanged continue to use.

Priced at $18ea these new premium tool steel tappets are available for immediate delivery.

Parma Heights, Ohio (March 4, 2011) - The Quarter Mile Foundation will be gathering interviews during the Gatornationals weekend (March 10-13) at the Don Garlits Drag Racing Museum and at the race track.

"Thanks to the generosity of Don Garlits and the staff of the NHRA owned racetrack, we have two great venues to reach a goodly number of pioneers who will be in the Gainesville-Ocala Florida area during the week. The fact that Don's Installation Banquet for the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame precedes the beginning of race qualifying, and that the NHRA's year-long celebration of their 60th anniversary begins with the ‘Gators' will bring a large number of the legendary pioneers to the area," observed Traci Hrudka, Foundation chairman.
"We have been working with Steve Gibbs and Eileen Daniels, along with Don Garlits, to line up the people we need to reach for interviews."

Conducting the interviews will be noted drag racing journalist and historian Don Gillespie. Don's passion for the sport's history is well documented, and his own documentary film on the iconic Lions Drag Strip is highly acclaimed.

While the interview list is still taking shape, several notables (not all are listed) who will be interviewed include Bob Stange (Strange Engineering), Joe Mondello, Chris Karamesines, Don Garlits, T.C. Lemons, Jerry and Darrell Gwynn, Arnie (" The Farmer") Beswick, Rich Guasco, Marvin ("Starvin' Marvin") Graham. Each of these interviewees has placed their mark on the sport and the automotive performance aftermarket industry, helping contribute to the foundation of each across the decades.

The Quarter Mile Foundation is a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit foundation, which is producing PROJECT 1320, a documentary film series about the history of drag racing and the parallel growth of the performance automotive aftermarket.

RANCHO® RELEASES BRAND-NEW RS7000MTTM MONOTUBE SHOCK LINE

webassets/RanchoShock.jpg

LONG BEACH, CA, March 4, 2011 - Rancho® - an engineering leader in the off-road marketplace - has announced the release of a new, high-gas pressure Rancho RS7000MTTM monotube shock series. Rancho products are manufactured and marketed by Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TEN) and headquartered in Long Beach, Calif.

"Our Rancho monotube shocks offer a way to get rid of heat more easily, making you less susceptible to failure or overheating on the road or trails," said Joe Pase, general manager, Rancho.

The new RS7000MT shocks will be available this summer at performance retailers nationwide. After the initial launch, Rancho will add applications throughout 2011, covering a complete range of truck, SUV and Jeep applications. Next year, Rancho will release coil-over designs of the RS7000MT.

The monotube shock absorbers offer exceptional response to overheating during hauling or on rough roads and trails. The shocks help deliver fast, precise response required by many late-model vehicles. Each RS7000MT monotube shock includes valving tuned to each vehicle application platform.

The shocks feature a high-pressure gas charge separated from the internal oil to provide maximized damping efficiency and control. The RS7000MT shocks also feature sensitive damping to react more quickly to a diverse range of off-road obstacles.

Engineered to the highest tolerances and including the strongest seals to mantain oil integrity and performance, the new Rancho RS7000MT shocks - which provide more efficient heat dissipation for less fade - offer precise control through a 46mm bore and piston. The 14mm piston rod is chrome for added strength and durability.

Rancho also finishes every RS7000MT shock by brushing and trivalent-acid zinc plating then clear coating the shock body to provide an extra long-life and surpass OE specifications. Rancho also includes a black protective boot to protect the piston rod.
The shocks are available in direct-fit applications (for vehicles running up to a 6-in. lift) and extended-length applciations. All RS7000MT shocks have a 2-in. diameter. The RS7000MT shock absorbers are made in North America.

World Products, Joe Mondello, Joe Amato add support to PROJECT 1320

Parma Heights, Ohio (March 4, 2011) - The Quarter Mile Foundation has recently gained the support of a well-known manufacturer and two prominent racing and industry legends in the production of the PROJECT 1320 documentary series.

Joe Amato, the five-time NHRA/Full Throttle Top Fuel Champion and co-founder of Keystone Automotive Warehouse (now Keystone Automotive Operations), has been a quiet supporter of the documentary undertaking since the inception. He has observed, asked penetrating questions and contributed his time to the undertaking.

Following the SEMA Show, Joe and Foundation Chairman Traci Hrudka had several in-depth conversations. His questions answered, he made a generous contribution to support the Foundation efforts.

"As a former racer, I am thankful for the pioneers of the sport that paved the way for my success," said Amato. "We are pleased to be able to support Quarter Mile Foundation in its efforts to produce a documentary film that will archive the history of drag racing. We are certainly looking forward to seeing the final product."

World Products, the manufacturer of aftermarket engine blocks, cylinder heads and intake manifolds, became affiliated with the Foundation when it supplied the core elements of the "Save Our Heritage" Raffle engine from Joe Mondello's shop. The company, and principals Bill Mitchell, Sr. and his son, Bill, Jr., have pressed beyond that involvement and provided additional support to the Foundation.
"World Products has always worked hard at developing and bringing to market the most technically advanced product. But where would we be if it wasn't for those who competed at the early drag races, and the companies that were built to supply the parts," asked Bill Mitchell, Jr.

"Many of those people were there to help my Dad in his career as a sportsman drag racer, and later as he started our company. And he was not alone, for the help and influence from these pioneers contributed to the racing and business successes of many, many others.

"We see the efforts of the Quarter Mile Foundation and the PROJECT 1320 documentary as a way to preserve the history of the sport and the performance industry for today and the future. By seeing and hearing these surviving pioneering individuals, we can help keep our sport and the industry alive. To know where we are going, we have to understand where we have been, and we feel the PROJECT 1320 undertaking will help achieve that goal."

Joe Mondello, whose career as an engine builder, manufacturer and drag racer spans over 50 years, has also contributed far beyond the value of the Foundation's engine raffle. From his early days, when he partnered with "Sush" Matsubara with their legendary Fuel Altered blown Chevy powered Fiat, his understanding of air flow in, through and out of the cylinder head became legendary. Today, he shares his knowledge with young automotive machinists with his Mondello Technical Center.

Mondello stated, "The future of the high performance industry and drag racing began over 60 years ago. In the beginning, we had some great practical engineers and other pioneers who went to the race track and began racing by the seat of their pants. They engineered or designed, then built, all of the parts and pieces they needed, which were the basis for the parts we see today.

"These pioneers need to be recognized and supported from the racing community...the spectators, the manufacturers, and the racers - current and past. Without the contributions from these individuals and companies, the history of the early days of the sport and the industry will fall by the wayside. We cannot afford to let that happen.

"I feel this is a MUST! We need everyone to come forward and support it with whatever they can afford. The amount is not important, but we have to get these surviving legends interviewed and the documentary completed to preserve our history! We need to do this as our legacy to the future."

Said Traci Hrudka, Quarter Mile Foundation Chairman said, "The generosity of Joe Amato, Joe Mondello and the Mitchells is deeply appreciated. Each, in their own way, has contributed in multiple ways to furthering the Foundation's efforts to capture the personal memories of the pioneering legends of drag racing and the performance industry.

"Each has had significant accomplishments on the track and in business. It very heartening to see these individuals and companies believe in the Foundation and its goals to preserve the history of the sport and industry in a documentary format."

The Quarter Mile Foundation is a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit foundation, which is producing PROJECT 1320, a documentary film series about the history of drag racing and the parallel growth of the performance automotive aftermarket.

KING ENGINE BEARINGS INTRODUCES SIMPLIFIED NUMBERING SYSTEM
Makes it easier for engine builder and race teams to select the right bearing

webassets/KingBearingNewPartNoSystem0.jpg

Cedar Grove, NJ - King Engine Bearings, a leader in high performance engine bearings, has introduced a new simplified numbering system for its performance engine bearings. Under the new system, King Engine Bearings retains the "core number" from the OE replacement bearing and changes the suffix to reflect material and features.

"Our new part numbers make it easier for engine builders and race teams to select the right bearing for their project," said Limor DePetro, director of sales and marketing, King Engine Bearings.

Reflected in the new numbering system is King's decision to narrow its rod bearings instead of chamfering.

"We removed the large chamfer and narrowed the bearing by the corresponding amount," explained DePetro. "Many customers prefer the narrowed bearing, which is cleaner and more professional looking. All eight cylinder rod bearings will feature the N (narrowed) design."

All King performance bearings feature greater rod bearing height that improves bearing to bore contact/heat transfer and reduces spin potential at high RPMs. Main bearings feature enlarged, chamfered oil holes and ¾ grooving. In addition, most rod bearings are available with or without dowel holes. King bearings feature the closest wall tolerances in the industry (Bull's Eye Tolerance), with all shells matched to .0001". Main and rod bearings are narrowed for large radii crankshafts.

King Engine Bearings is known for its extensive line of high performance engine bearings for circle track, drag racing, monster trucks, tractor pulls, off-road and off-shore racing applications. For more information on King Engine Bearings and the company's complete line of performance engine bearings, visit www.kingbearings.com.

webassets/NALSR.jpg

North Hollywood, CA, February 11, 2011 - The National Association for Legalized Street Racing (NALSR) has announced their schedule for the inaugural season beginning in the spring of 2011.

The 2011 schedule consists of five events beginning on May 14th at San Antonio Raceway in San Antonio, Texas. The additional NALSR events include; June 10th at Houston Motorsports Park in Houston, Texas, July 30th at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina, August 27th at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Virginia and September 2nd at Dallas Raceway in Dallas, Texas.

NALSR Founder and President Jeremy J. Ford said, "We are pleased to announce the 2011 NALSR schedule of events and are excited about working with our partner tracks in producing professional events for the competitors, the fans and our sponsors. The tracks that we have as partners share the same mission as NALSR in getting the street racers off the street and onto the track. Many tracks across the country feature some level of street racing program but NALSR is the only series that provides a national platform for the competitors. The NALSR events will compliment what the tracks are already doing and gives street racers the opportunity to showcase their cars and their driving skills. For the first time ever, street racers will be able to see how they match up with other street racers on a national level."

The tracks across the country that have partnered with NALSR for the inaugural season view the partnership as an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on illegal street racing in their communities. Rockingham Dragway Owner Steve Earwood said, "Illegal street racing unfortunately has become more common with the resurgence of American-Made Muscle Cars and the advent of the performance Import/Sport Compact scene. We at Rockingham Dragway encourage our youths with these performance cars and motorcycles to do their racing at our facility where it is safe, insured and supervised. We are honored to have been selected by the National Association for Legal Street Racing to host one of their events this season." And Freddy Cruz at San Antonio Raceway said, I would also like to say that we at San Antonio raceway are very excited to be working with NALSR and help in anyway we can to get national recognition for our racers and to support continued efforts to keep racers off the streets."

NALSR - National Association for Legalized Street Racing
The racers will compete for cash and prizes that will be awarded in multiple classes. The NALSR events will also feature an entertaining fan experience with several off track activities including a car show, music, interactive games and contests, and a display area with vendors and sponsors. "Our goal is to produce events that cater to the street racer lifestyle. We want to create an environment that is exciting, fun and safe for the competitors and the fans. We are very excited about the future of legalized street racing and the inaugural season for NALSR in 2011." said Ford.
